Da Nang Cathedral, locally known as the Rooster Church, stands at 156 Tran Phu street and was built in 1923 during the French period. The nickname comes from the metal rooster weathervane on top of the bell tower. The whole church is painted soft pink in Gothic style with a tall pointed spire.

Why visit?

  • Rare Gothic architecture in the heart of Da Nang.
  • The pink facade is very photogenic, especially in the morning and late afternoon.
  • Close to Han Market, the Han River and the Dragon Bridge – easy to combine on foot.

Visiting tips

  • It is an active church; the grounds are usually open to visitors during the day, with limited access to the interior during Mass.
  • Dress modestly, keep quiet and avoid noisy photo sessions inside.
  • Best photo angle: from the pavement across Tran Phu street to capture the whole spire.

Combine the Pink Cathedral – Han Market – Cham Museum – Dragon Bridge for a complete walking tour of the centre.
